Kintsugi, literally translating to "golden joinery", is a Japanese art of repairing broken objects not with glue but with gold. The goal is not to hide the cracks but to highlight them, transforming the damaged object into a unique and even more cherished item. It's a practice deeply rooted in the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in imperfection and the history of an object, rather than in perfection.
This work for solo piano seeks cracks in different pianistic traditions: classical, jazz and contemporary music. It seeks to highlight the joins, find synergies but also allow them to contrast.
